VEGAN RECIPES: Breakfasts

Yeast Biscuits

Preheat oven to 325° degrees. Let set to bubble while preparing flour mixture (10-15 min. or until large foam).

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 rounded T. yeast
  • 3 T. honey

Mix well:

  • 3 cups unbleached flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • Add and mix well:
  • ˝ c. oil

 

DIRECTIONS:

Pour liquid yeast mixture into flour mixture mixing as little as possible, just until dry flour disappears. Roll out 3/4 - 1 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter or largemouth canning jar lid. Place on cookie sheet. Let rise approx. 15 minutes. Bake until golden brown. Serve warmed the next day.

 

 

Country Style Gravy

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 c. water
  • ˝ c. cashews
  • 2 T. cornstarch
  • 2 T. chicken seasoning
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • ˝ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 T. Bragg’s aminos
  • 1 T. fresh parsley

 

DIRECTIONS:

Blend ˝ cup hot water with cashews until smooth. Add the rest of ingredients, except parsley. Pour into saucepan and stir while cooking until thickened. Add vegetarian “bacon” if desired.
