Spiritual applications:
Many times our Heavenly Father places us in situations where there is just enough pressure or stimulation to correct the underlying problem in our hearts. Just as massage stimulates the flow of circulation, clearing the system of health destroying toxins and restoring the health giving red blood cells and white blood cells, so our connection with heaven is stimulated when we are experiencing the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit and the deeper “massage” of trials in our lives. The trials lead us to prayer and the experience of the Lord’s compassion towards us. His touch is healing. Our hands can be avenues through which the Heavenly Physician reaches the heart of those with whom we are working. He had compassion—tenderness and pity—towards everyone He met while here on earth. He healed them. He went about doing good. Isaiah 49:15 tells us that He has graven us on the palms of His hands. Those scars will be there throughout eternity. What are you doing with your hands? Blessing and healing? Providing a healing, connecting touch? Remember that your hands are a gift from the Lord. Use them in His service as you practice the healing arts.
