Betty’s Best Burgers
 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 c. Water
  • 2 tsp. Sage
  • 1 c. Pecan Meal*  
  • 1 tsp. Sweet Basil
  • ½ c. Soy Sauce**  
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cumin
  • ¼ c. Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 3 Tbs. Gomasio***  
  • ½ tsp. Thyme
  • 1/3 c. Oil
  • 2 Tbs. Onion Soup Mix
  • 2 tsp. Coriander  
  • 4 c. Rolled Oats

 

DIRECTIONS:

Place all ingredients except oats in large pot and bring to a slow boil. Add oats to boiling mixture and stir till thoroughly mixed. Remove immediately from heat; cover and set aside.

When cool enough to handle, knead mixture with hands and shape into patties. Place in oiled baking dishes or stainless steel cookie sheets and bake for 15 minutes on each side.

Mixture may be spread in baking dishes, baked 15-20 minutes on each side and then crumbled for use as “ground beef”.


* May use walnuts instead of pecans.

** Braggs Liquid Aminos is better than soy sauce as it is not fermented.

*** Gomasio is toasted sesame seeds ground and salted slightly.
